Exploring the Secret Life of Soil │New Blog Post

Soil is far more than just the ground we walk on — it is a living system essential for life on Earth.

On March 20 at 17:00, an engaging exhibition titled “Below the Surface: The Secret Life of Soil” was opened at the Science Club Belgrade, within the Center for the Promotion of Science (CPN). The exhibition is part of the international Horizon project LOESS – Literacy Boost through an Operational Educational Ecosystem of Societal Actors on Soil Health.

The exhibition was officially opened by Iris Lekić, Acting Director of the Center for the Promotion of Science (CPN), and Dobrivoje Lale Erić, Head of the Department for International Cooperation at CPN, together with Irena Šujdović, coordinator of CPN activities within this major European project.

The exhibition highlights that soil is not merely the ground we walk on, but a living and complex ecosystem in which essential processes for life on Earth take place. Its aim is to promote a better understanding and preservation of soil, with a particular emphasis on its crucial role in ensuring food production, water availability, and ecosystem stability.

The exhibition will be open until April 23, 2026, offering a great opportunity for all interested visitors to explore and better understand the hidden world beneath our feet.

This exhibition is a strong reminder that the future of agriculture and sustainability starts below the surface.
