On June 24, 2026, a Watermelon Field Day was held in the village of Deronje at the farm of Sava Kompalić, organized by Syngenta. The event brought together growers, agronomists, and industry representatives, providing an opportunity to assess the current condition of the watermelon crop and compare the performance of different cultivars under various crop nutrition and plant protection programs.
Following the technical presentations and field tour, participants enjoyed a lunch featuring traditional local products, accompanied by the music of tambura musicians. The village of Deronje is well known throughout the region not only for its high-quality watermelons but also for its rich tambura music tradition, making the event a perfect combination of agricultural innovation and local heritage.
